I never really expected my dream to come true.

Yet, there I was, standing on a ladder, organizing and cleaning shelves in my very own bookstore—well, mine, Aubrey’s and our not-so-silent partner, her husband, Josh.

I’d dusted as high as I could reach, until I was forced to stand on a step-ladder to get to the very top shelf.

As I reached for a box of books, sparkling dust motes drifted slowly down from the shelf and I felt a tickling sensation in my nose. Uh-oh. With one hand, I grabbed the dust rag I’d left on the shelf, and held it up to my face.

Ah-choo. Ah-choo. Ah-choo!

I sneezed with such violence, the overloaded box slipped from my grasp and fell to the floor. The cardboard ripped apart and dozens of paperback books scattered across the carpet.

Startled, I pulled back abruptly from my precarious perch on the very top of the rickety wooden ladder. As I grabbed at air, the dust wand flew from my fingers and I found myself falling with the ladder. But before I could hit the floor, strong arms caught me. In a daze, I stared at the ladder, before I turned my head and gazed into the hazel-colored eyes of the tall, dark-haired man who held me.

Excerpt from My Christmas Dream

Aubrey popped into the bookstore while I was hanging wreaths in the windows. 

“What do you think?” I asked her. 

“I have some ideas,” she answered and shortly after that, headed back out the door to do some shopping.

I rarely went out at lunchtime, but I needed to get some things for Thanksgiving dinner. “You’re in charge,” I told Sylvester, who looked up at me from his bed of books, yawned and went back to sleep.

By the time I got back to the bookstore, I was tired and frustrated and it wasn’t until I walked inside and turned around to flip the Closed sign to Open that I realized the windows had been decorated in my absence.

Aubrey had flocked the windows with a spray can of “snow.” And then each window had a display with a stuffed animal, “reading” a book. Looking around the rest of the room, I saw that on top of the Children’s Corner bookcase, the bear with glasses had been joined by a mama bear and three little bears while “papa” bear read The Night Before Christmas to them.

There was even a display made of red and green books stacked so each level had less books and the top level was only one book, a book Christmas tree.

The decorations were awesome.  I had to tell her.

I enjoyed this fast pace wedding novella with interesting characters. The plot kept the pages turning, and the dialog was entertaining. What happens when the wedding planner and her fiancé have a difference of opinion? A wedding is a girls dream, and she knows what she wants, but what if the groom is trying to rush things?

To help three co-workers coordinate their weddings, Skye Wilson must act as a bridesmaid for them. Skye dreams of becoming a wedding planner and needs to start somewhere and reluctantly agrees. Just when the wedding arrangements and her plans started going wrong, she meets Chasen Dantrell, a handsome limousine driver.

Chasen has a growing limo business. He loves his job but the long hours of waiting by himself wear on him. That is until a cute, blue-eyed bridesmaid named Skye stumbles his way.

Happy Fourth of July

Happy Fourth of July to all my American readers!

The fireworks have already started around here.

My husband just finished making his delicious potato salad--of course I had to do a taste test. We got the watermelon yesterday, baked beans ready to cook and cornbread ready to make. Yum! 

Meanwhile, if I wasn't so busy writing my 2020 Christmas story, I'd be reading.
