Josey's Christmas Cookie Blog Tour December 15-20, 2014

JOSEY’S CHRISTMAS COOKIE BLOG TOUR

BY SHARON KLEVE

FIVE STAR REVIEW

5.0 out of 5 stars A Lovable Story!

By Debby Lee

I loved this heartwarming Christmas story.
Josey was a workaholic who spent all her spare time at the office in order to cope with the tragic loss of her parents and being jilted by her fiance. I really felt for her.
Clint was a handsome veterinarian Josey met at an animal rescue event who helped her buy a large slobbering dog named Cookie. Clint handled the animals with professionalism, sincerity, and great care.
The two Morning Dove's in the story, Harry and Beatrice, were desperate to see Josey and Clint get together in time for Christmas.
If you enjoy sweet plots, whimsical animal themes, and stories that make you go "aaawww" this one's for you.
Highly entertaining, highly recommended!

BLURB:

In the blink of an eye, Josey lost the most important people in her life, her parents.

Can a hound dog named Cookie, a pair of mourning doves, and a passionate vet bring the holiday spirit back to Josey's life in time for Christmas?

EXCERPT:

As I stared at the pathetic dog in his diaper, I realized no one wanted the dog, they were just gawking at him. The sign said his name was Cookie, part Basset Hound and part Redbone Coonhound. I didn’t know anything about either breed. I did know he was very large and he was slobbering everywhere and he should have a diaper around his neck. I turned to continue my search and a felt a tug on my pant leg. I looked down and Cookie had a hold of my jeans. When our eyes met, Cookie's eyes twinkled, just like Clint's.

A glob of drool hit the top of my shoe. He let go of my pant leg and licked the goo off my shoe. I wanted to say, "gross," but instead I said, "thank you." I was hooked. His fur was a reddish brown and soft as silk. Not caring about drool or dog hair, I sat down on the floor next to Cookie, wrapped my arms around his neck, and finally felt at peace.

Another glob of drool hit the floor next to my butt. He looked sad, like that was a deal breaker and I'd leave him behind. I looked Cookie in his sad eyes and laughed. He pulled back his goofy lips and smiled back.

That's when I heard Clint's voice, "Well Josey, it looks like you found your soul mate."

He laughed, but not at my expense.

Saddle Up For Love

Just released as an ebook on Amazon.com my newest story, Saddle Up For Love (The Pancake Club Story #4). This is the fourth and last story in The Pancake Club series. Barb Sessions is a wrangler for the Saddle Up Dude Ranch, just outside the small town of Mercy Ridge. A couple times a week she and the other Pancake Club members got together for breakfast at the Memories Diner and discussed single life in a small town. Trouble is, now the other members are all engaged to be married. Barb meets a lot of dudes, couples in love and children on her job, but never any men her age. Could it be because she's always in jeans and cowboy boots? Dirk Adams is new to town, the new vet and the new owner of the town's Large Animal Mobile Veterinary Clinic. And, this is his first job as a practicing veterinarian. He's heard that small town folks often don't warm up to new people...and now he's getting ready to replace their beloved retiring Doc Nick. How will they react to Dirk's new ways?

Lesson Plan For Love

Lesson Plan for Love (The Pancake Club Book 2)Lesson Plan for Love by Jackie Marilla
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

If you’ve read Jackie Marilla’s previous stories, Only on Valentine’s Day and Love Those Hula Hips as I have, you won’t be disappointed in her newest sweet romance, Lesson Plan For Love, the second story in The Pancake Club series, that began with Jennifer Conner’s Love on the Airwaves.

Unlucky in love, Chad Granger faces his friends at the Memories Diner with dread. How should he explain his latest in a string of break-ups? He enters the café with a grin pasted on his face, but when his fellow Pancake Club members greet him for breakfast, by the looks on their faces, he realizes they—and the rest of the town—already know. The worst part is, now he has no more prospects, unless an angel waltzes into town.

When a vision in purple with no wedding ring on her hand, dances through the café door, Chad has to wonder, could this really be his lucky day after all?

How I write

From an article in the online site, Examiner.com: Author Marilyn Conner Miles talks about how she writes her books. An interviewer asked me how I got started in writing. I stated writing when I learned to print in first grade. I’d write stories and give them to my family and teachers. (Several years ago, my second grade teacher gave one back to a family friend several who then returned it to me. It was a kick). Then I showed a story I’d written to the librarian of our grade school and she showed the principal. I illustrated all the stories too, and made “hardbacks” out of them by using the cardboard from my dad’s new white shirt packages. I used wire to attach the story to the “cover.” Later, I took creative writing classes, in high school and college. I couldn’t figure out how I would use a degree in English. I just wanted to write! So I majored in advertising and minored in English and got a BA in Communications. I worked in advertising, marketing, promotions and public relations and wrote tv and radio commercials, print ads for newspapers, catalogs and brochures. I kept a journal for years but it wasn’t until I “retired” and began working from home, that I began to think about writing stories again. I’ve always had a voracious appetite for reading, and especially romance, which is why I write in that genre. I also enjoy research, so when I wanted to write a flight scene, I took a flying lesson, and wrote down everything I could remember afterward. Much of my writing comes from subjects I already know about and people I’ve met over the years. I think one of my family members likes to guess what person I’ve based my characters on. But often my hero or heroine is a combination of two or more people or their life experiences. I’m not a fast writer like many authors I know. In the past year, I’ve had three stories published, and the first one I actually wrote thirty years ago. Of course, it needed updating to make it current and much rewriting. The second story was semi-written. But the third is all new and I was surprised when I sat down at the computer, and it just seemed to flow from my brain to my fingers…well, for awhile. I couldn’t type fast enough! All three of my stories have been published by publisher, Books To Go Now http://bookstogonow.com/ : Acapulco Adventure, Holiday Heart and Perfect Pair. Holiday Heart is also in an anthology called Christmas Romance Volume 2. I had fun with the titles on those three. Acapulco Adventure had the two word title, and when I named Holiday Heart that two word title thing just continued. However, I don’t plan to make a habit of it. I also didn’t intend to make them a series, but they ended up being that way. The common character in all three is Brenda. I used my past career with the airlines as the setting in Acapulco Adventure and because of Brenda, flying is a major part of Holiday Heart too. I have fun coming up with the right names for my characters. Since they are loosely based on people I knew, I try to use names similar to theirs. But because my characters are a combination of people I’ve known in the past and myself, I doubt that anyone would see themselves in these characters. Currently, I am writing Saddle Up for Love, which will be part of The Pancake Club series with stories by authors Jennifer Conner, Jackie Marilla and JW Stacks. A freelance editor, and author, Marilyn lives with her husband and cat in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains in southwest Washington State, where she watches horses, deer, rabbits, hummingbirds and sometimes owls from her home office window.

Happy Fourth of July

Happy Fourth of July to all my readers! Hope you have a safe and fun Fourth. And after the Fourth, please look for my soon-to-be-released third and last story of the series that began with Acapulco Adventure. Perfect Pair! Excerpt from Perfect Pair “There must be a million stars up there, strewn across the sky.” She pointed. “I’ve never seen anything like it except in pictures. It’s beautiful.” “That’s because it’s so dark out here in the country with no streetlights.” “I see the Big Dipper…and the Little Dipper.” She breathed in the icy air. Mick stood closer to her and pointed. “And there’s Orion. See it?” “No. Where?” She shivered as she stood there trying to find it, then felt the warmth of Mick’s heavily muscled arm around her, as he pointed with his other hand. “Right there. If you could wish on a star right now. What would you wish?” “I’d wish that this night wasn't a dream.” He took her arm and slowly turned her to face him. He touched her cheek. She’d never in her life had a man look at her as Mick did now. Their breaths mingled in the icy air. His handsome face was lit by the moonlight. He dropped his head to kiss her. It began with just a brush of his lips to hers. When she wound her hands behind his neck, he deepened the kiss. With his arms around her, he held her as though she was special. Precious.
